COURSE SCHEDULE, NOTES & OUTLINE

GENESIS Chapters 1 & 2
Monday, September 8, 2003

We hear a lot nowadays about “living in the moment.” The descriptions always sound wonderful and most of us would like to know HOW!

Believe it or not, the most brilliant explanation lies in the book of Genesis. Far from being some outdated religious fairytale, Genesis is a carefully worded description of existence—its God-defined structure and timeless nature. This class strips off centuries’ old interpretations that block Genesis from making sense to us. It explains the Creation in non-dualistic terms, dissolves the conflict between Gen 1 & Gen 2, and makes this book intelligent to today’s seekers who want explanations that makes sense.

Across the Genesis Threshold© lie the laws of God’s nature that make instantaneous healing and transformation possible.

The Ground / The Mist

  • PRINCIPLE VS. PROCESS : The key to instantaneous healing
  • GOD’S LIFE-AS-US vs. LIFE ON THE TIMELINE : Freedom from the endless cycles

JACOB’S STRUGGLE
Monday, September 15, 2003

Why does our life seem to hold a certain promise that we have yet to realize? Why do so many of our efforts lead us nowhere, or always back to square one? What is “Square One” anyway and how come I’m spending so much time there?!

Like most of the great Bible characters, Jacob’s life is a road-map for how to live our own. Or rather, how NOT to live our own. Still, if we understand Jacob—his struggles to fulfill his God-given destiny and how he finally succeeds—we can’t help but do likewise.

If you are tired of repeat patterns, and if your efforts to fulfill your life’s potential have failed, Jacob will prove to be your best friend.

MOSES: HOLY GROUND & THE WILDERNESS
Monday, September 29, 2003

Who today doesn’t suffer from some sort of bondage : fear or pain, psychological blocks or emotional scars, substance abuse, eating disorders, depression, repeat patterns, a threatening medical verdict… The list goes on and we all log in somewhere on it.

The Bible has answers. And one of the best is Moses. Moses isn’t ancient history. He’s a current guide. The story of Moses and the Israelites’ journey out of slavery is a living testimony of God’s Love, protection, guidance and deliverance—through valleys of fear and every obstacle imaginable. This class shows us how Moses’ lessons are gifts for our day. When you’ve finished it, you will have an all-encompassing sense of God as Love. You will know how to dissolve doubt and fear and their useless justification. You will see how God’s law absolutely frees us from all opposition to good, whether in ourselves, our circumstances, or others.

  • WHY WE NEED THE MOSES WAY OF GREETING OUR WORLD
Why the first step is always stopping
Where every inch of earth is “crammed with heaven”

ELIJAH: THE PROPHET AND THE WIDOW
Monday, October 6, 2003

What was it about Elijah that made him the greatest of the Old Testament Prophets? From where did he get all his authority, his “spiritual audacity?” Why did Pharisees imagine that Jesus was perhaps, Elijah, come again?

ELISHA: THE TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF SPIRITUAL VISION
Monday, October 20th

Anyone who has lost a loved one and who knows the pain of grief, anyone who is threatened by illness or knows someone facing the threat of death, Elisha will light your path and lighten your burden. Let’s face it, death is always hanging around with its threat of loss and separation. Without the fear of death, terrorists could not terrify—and terror comes in many shapes these days. Sometimes the air itself seems terrifying—carrying all its unseen microbes. What is God’s answer? A Love-inspired vision that redefines both the “here” and the “hereafter.” Within this renewed vision comes the power to heal even terminal cases.

  • ELISHA’S LEGACY: IF YOU CAN SEE ME WHEN I AM TAKEN FROM YOU
How can we see life when our eyes are screaming death?
Why God always asks the impossible of us.
  • TRACING THE THREAD OF SPIRITUAL VISION THROUGHOUT THE BIBLE
How is spiritual vision the key?
              How do we develop it?
  • THE MANTLE and the MIRACLES
Death is not the ultimatum it appears to be
Miracles happen when we go up to the threshold of death
and look it in the eyes

THE PSALMS: SONGS THAT GO “UP AND DOWN”
Monday, October 27th

When we think of the Book of Psalms, we usually think of inspiring poems that lift our spirits when we’re down and give us hope. What Christian has not clung to the 23rd Psalm “The Lord is my Shepherd” in times of despair, or Psalm 91, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High?”

However, the Psalms themselves point us to something beyond “feeling better.” They actually outline the Principle of non-dual spirituality and show us how to end the endless cycles of “up and down” that seem endemic to the human experience.

Are you tired of occasional insights, occasional healings, occasional “moments?” Do you long for a lasting peace, long to get off the up-down “see-saw” altogether? The Book of Psalms, taken seriously as an outline of non-dual wisdom (and not just a book of poetry), shows us how.

  • IF I MAKE MY BED IN HELL
“For Storm or Shine, pure peace is thine”
  • A THOUSAND FALL & ONE STANDS:
Selective Salvation vs. “Be a law unto one’s self”
  • WHY DOES THE LORD SET HIS TABLE IN THE “Presence of the Enemy?”

WHY JESUS IS THE ULTIMATE CRIMINAL
November 3rd, 2003

The teachings of Jesus of Nazareth—both understood and misunderstood—have completely shaped Western history and culture for the past 2000 years. His admonitions on how to live one’s life have become the accepted ideal for all of Christian-based society—the norms we are each supposed to strive for, whether or not we ever attend church.

However, his healing works have largely been relegated to the classification of “miracle”—i.e. an exception to the norm, and an exception to the many laws of matter. Why would Jesus instruct his followers to not only go out and preach, but to heal in his name and demonstrate their immunity to every ill, if such were not the will of the Father? Would Jesus ask his students to not only do something utterly impossible, but to make it their full-time career? Or did he think that by his teaching and his own example he had introduced a new law—one which we not only should obey but could obey. This class examines Jesus’ life in terms of Law—not just the moral laws that we are supposed to live by, but the so-called physical laws that Jesus challenged on every occasion. This radical presentation of Jesus as the “ultimate criminal” will redefine what is possible and bring your life a little closer to the divine Principle that defines Jesus as Master.

  • JESUS AS THE ULTIMATE PROTESTOR
  • HOW JESUS BROKE THE LAW & WHY WE SHOULD TOO
              The law of limited supply
The law that our needs can’t be met spontaneously
The law that good takes time and process
The law that health must operate according to the pre-sets of disease
The law that people have power to do ill
The law that evil people have power
  • WHY DO WE STILL RESPECT “LAWS” THAT JESUS TOLD US TO GO AND BREAK?
  • DO WE LOVE JESUS BECAUSE WE NEVER HAD TO FACE HIM?
  • HOW DOES LOVE WRECK HAVOC?

I CORINTHIANS 13—PAUL’S ATTACK ON RELIGION
November 10th, 2003

Love suffers long and is kind. True. But how did we ever come to make this one short phrase the summation of Paul’s letter to the church in Corinth? How did we ever reduce this amazing letter to a simply a treatise on nice human behavior? Because, as so often is the case, we let our idea of Truth inform and deform the words on the page. However, when we take a serious look at these few classic verses, we discover so much more, including a merciless rebuke to religious notions of spirituality, and the setting forth of a non-dual, paradoxical spirituality whose essence is Love. Paul defines Love not as some personal, warm fuzzy feeling, nor as some universal ideal, but as that which transcends our capabilities altogether and thus ushers in a state of what he calls “charity” —a state of mind and spirit that is available to us but that lies beyond any merely human capacity.

  • STRIPPING OFF THE “7 VEILS OF RELIGION”
  • HOW CAN ANYONE EVER “HOPE ALL THINGS?”
  • THE FIRST RULE OF ALL GENUINE SPIRITUALITY
  • WHY IT IS THAT— “WHAT IS REQUIRED OF US SPIRITUALLY…
  • MUST BE IMPOSSIBLE TO US HUMANLY”
  • LOVE: THE LAW AND THE BODY OF CHRIST©

THE SEEN, THE UNSEEN & THE BRIDGE—Hebrews 11 & 12
November 17th, 2003

Hebrews 11 is Paul’s famous discourse on faith. But all too often, in spite of the text in front of us, we imagine that faith is a noun—something we need, try find within ourselves, but never seem to have enough of. This class brings us back to the page—where faith is always a verb and can only exist in the doing not in the having. We also examine Hebrews 12, and the fascinating statement that heaven itself will be shaken up, so that what “cannot be shaken” can remain. After this class you will never think of faith or substance in the same way. You will never imagine them as something you lack, or need to get more of, because you will understand how FAITH and SUBSTANCE, by definition, exist always as ENOUGH!

  • IF FAITH IS SUBSTANCE, THEN SUBSTANCE IS A VERB NOT A NOUN.
  • WHY FAITH ONLY COMES IN ONE SIZE : SMALL (as in“mustard seed”)
  • WHY HEAVEN FIRST MAKES EARTH, THEN SHAKES EARTH
  • WHAT IS THE SUBSTANCE THAT REMAINS WHEN EVEN HEAVEN IS SHAKEN UP?

NOW ARE WE THE SONS OF GOD—I JOHN 3
December 1st 2003

John 3: 1-3 is a world of liberation and healing in three short verses. It is a statement of the perfect non-dual unity of God and man. We can never be divorced from God because God is not separate from His own expression. God’s very nature is undivided and without contradiction. The fact that this nature is LOVE, is more than any birthright could ever promise. It is actually our re-birth right— our return ticket so to speak—to our original nature as God’s offspring. This class redefines our identity and the human experience by bringing home what Jesus lived and John continually points us toward: The “Wedding of Heaven and Earth.”©

  • THE WORD THAT BOTH “IS” (GOD) & IS “WITH” (US)
  • NOW ARE WE THE SONS OF GOD
  • GETHSEMANE : THE LIGHT THAT SHINETH IN DARKNESS
  • THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WEDDING EVER! —THE WEDDING OF HEAVEN AND EARTH
