IN THE MIDST OF LIFE AND DEATH

As we go about our day, there is a background discourse in our minds that runs something like this: “Here I am…going through my life…being me…on my way to dying….but not just yet. I’ve still got a few more years…I mean I hope I have a few more years…”

The banter rambles on and on until it circles back upon itself. But underlying the banter is this one central theme. “I’m alive…on my way to death.”

This seminar will explore what it means to live in a cultural framework where everyone is expected to die, and is in fact raised up from their earliest of years with death as the main point of reference and destination. This indoctrination not simply affects the way we see life, it defines it. Or better said, this indoctrination prohibits us from ever seeing life, much less actually living it.

“Busy on our way to death” is a long way from the divine Principle described by the Psalmist as the “Secret place of the Most High” which we could find even if “10,000 fall at our right hand,” and even in “the uttermost parts of the sea.” The ground of the Most High is the ground of one’s sure being. It lies outside this mortal view of life. And it is found right here in the midst of life and death.

The seminar will also discuss recent world tragedy, terrorism, religious killing, the cultivation of fear for profit, the healing of grief, and finding true safety.

A journal entry will be posted soon that you are all welcome to download and study and is the first study assignment for: “IN THE MIDST OF LIFE AND DEATH”
