WHAT PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY

Subj: At last
To: Susan@susandane.com

Dear Susan,

I heard you briefly while riding in my car this morning on WBAI NY Public radio, and they were reading excerpts from your book and interviewing you.

This is absolutely key information which has finally been delivered through you. Thank you, thank you, for bringing this information to the main stream for all of us spiritually burned out seekers. Now we can finally "Call off the search", as the great teacher, Papaji titled one of his books. Can you please let me know how I may order a copy of your book? I am very anxious to share it with friends and family.

Yours very truly,
C. Soprano

Dear Susan:

Your warm spirituality arrived in my heart last week.
I'm sorry that I couldn't e-mail you soon after receiving the book.

I'll have cultured it day by day and moment by moment inside myself.

Happy Mother's Day!
I hope you've had a wonderful time on this Mother's day.
I wish I could be a mother to so many some day like you are.

Truly esteem,
Mayumi

Subj: My God! You are an original thinker -- and writer! Thanks for sharing. -- NPS

Dear Susan,

Your writing blows me away. I wish I could better express its total impact on me. It is really quite something ... and from a "cosmic standpoint" it is well timed. Synchronicity!

Once again, I am stealing time from work for life. When does that end? ... I am so glad to see that you have made life your work. That is very good. At least I know what is good. I must now bridge the knowledge-action GAP....

Peace my friend,
Nick

Susan:

Regarding your book, I just want to say that it stirred up a lot of hard settled un-natural layers of dis-truth--breaking me into an uneasy but tranquil state of HEART and mind--as though I were given a book with blank pages in it, as to say the silence/nothingness revealed this vulnerability—away from a pseudo reality of mind/ego and in a sense paradoxical--offering something somewhat of more — like a bird soaring in the sky, he feels no highs/lows, just knowing it's truth, its nature...ah ha...at last TRUTH. With this book you know and feel and sense--the heart IS wiser than the intellect...

Hi Susan,

Enjoyed the 6 to 8 am part of the WBAI program. You are gifted in that you can describe spiritual matters that occur in the non-thought realm in such a vivid manner.

Well back to cleaning, polishing and installing an old wood stove.

Subj: Having heard you...

Dear Ms. Dane,

I heard part of your dialogue with Marjorie Moore on WBAI, subsequently reviewed your web site, and concluded that you're the first person I've heard since the death of one of the great spiritual masters of the 20th Century, J. Krishnamurti, to present the idea of non-systematized spirituality... I assume you must be familiar with Krishnamurti, for if you're not, your message is strikingly similar to his. I'm writing you to inquire if you have sponsored any groups (perhaps participants from your seminars) who come together ... to discuss and work through the issues raised by your nonsystematic approach to spirituality... I would be very much interested in meeting like-minded people who are also on the "pathless" spiritual journey. If you know of such a group, or anyone who facilitates one, I'd surely appreciate the information. Thank you.

Sincerely,
J. William Smith

Hi Ms. Dane

I heard your voice on the radio, WBAI and I was so moved by what you were saying. I really need to make some changes in my life. I need to stable my mind so I can see what is before me. Can you please let me know if you are have or is planning any workshop in the New York area. I was so sorry that I tuned in at the tail end of your air time.

Thanks

Sue, just a mercifully-brief note to thank you and toss a kudo or two your way this fine morning: In one of your 5-minute corners, you plainly state that the genuine spiritual journey is not a feel-good human-improvement program! Thank you! Bless you! And make sure you get that message out there, front and center, in your book! I squandered almost all my Christian Science study days, and the first ten of my Infinite Way study years, trying to make the human scene "better," and "feel good" while doing it. No wonder I wound up as I did, for "God will not be mocked."

Susan,
Thank you for the chapter on tears! You are the first writer I have encountered who really puts this one on the table - that opening up to Spirit can mean shedding plenty of tears - literal and metaphorical. Thomas Merton talks about it some in "New Seeds of Contemplation".

In 1985, I was a man who hadn't cried in all his adult life. I woke up early one Sunday morning - my long-running crisis was just gearing up - and I sat and read a book in which a man dies. At the end I burst into tears, surprising myself immensely. Since then I haven't stopped, in a sense. During this last passage, more than once I closed my office door at work so I could let loose. Now it is a big release. Then it was scary and unknown.

…I like the way you talk about tears as the voice of Spirit. That feels right and true.

Warmly,

Subj: I dont mean to patronize but you might be an angel
To: SDspiritfree@aol.com

I feel like maybe I should not have said anything about my drinking and smoking but it just came out. I guess sometimes one can talk too much. I am on page 217 in the book, and it occurred to me that you might be an angel or else how could you know all this which puts into words what I feel and tie it to Jesus whom I have come to understand. You seem very parallel to Krisnamurti, similar yet unique. As I read you and a few others I am seeing an alignment of consciousness and it seems to me be where I am headed ... You are a synchronized part of what I am experiencing.

Subj: Destined for the best seller list
To: SDspiritfree@aol.com

Dear Susan,

I got the book this morning at 9. I just finished this evening at 6:40 I know you probably don’t really care but it is destined for the top. I have read a lot of books.......thousands literally.......and this is really good.

I will now re-read it slowly over the next few weeks. As an experiment I think I am going to gather all of my self help books and books on Codependence and rewriting your life and put them away for awhile.

I am going to keep reading the Bible and your book, and stop the frantic looking for answers and get back to work at something that does not hurt me.

With thanks and love,

Subj: Received book!
To: sdspiritfree@aol.com (susan dane)

Hi Susan,

Thank you kindly for sending your beautiful book and for the thoughtful inscription. I'm reading it now. I'm coming across the word 'space', and that seems to be a key descriptive word for what you're providing in this book. It must be the place to begin and end, the space you're speaking about ... And it looks like you're providing many ways for people to hear it. I can see where someone reading your book will suddenly come to 'see'. It's a powerful thing. And I don't see where you're giving a technique or anything. You're just speaking from that space. You're present there and communing. I'd like to select some quotes -- there are many -- and send them to the lists. If your book is for sale through any of the online bookstores, I'd certainly like to write a review which could be posted there.

Thank you again.

Love,

Subj: Looking for some words
To: SDspiritfree@aol.com

Sue:

It's absolutely beautiful (& clear)! No I don't have the words to describe it. I thought I might finish it before writing you, but my life got in the way (a competition in St. Petersburg). Meanwhile I decided it's not a book I'm ever going to finish or get done. So I'm doing my own thing with it--read some, live some, read some live some, etc. I'm doing my version of the 5-minute corner several times a day using the book. Also I'm not only reading it consecutively, but also jumping around in the middle and end. I absolutely love it!

Love,

Subj: Re: Workshop:Spirituality Free from all systems
To: SDspiritfree

Dear Susan, I really got so much out of the workshop, that I cannot put it into words. I've been slowly reading your book. I'd like to talk with you and others who attended this workshop, to have a community around when all systems fail. Thank you kindly for the sincerity and boldness that brought you to share your truth and honesty at the workshop.

Sincerely,
C. Holder
